Ears - Labryrinthectomy

A labryrinthectomy is the removal of the labyrinth, the inner ear. This procedure is done for chronic, severe vertigo when hearing in the ear has also been lost. Removal of the labyrinth eliminates vertigo due to Meniere’s syndrome, but also causes total deafness in the affected ear.
