Myomectomy

Myomectomy is the surgical removal of fibroids from the uterus. The uterus is left in place, allowing for the possibility of future pregnancy. Methods include hysteroscopy (a lighted viewing instrument is inserted through the vagina and into the uterus), laparoscopy (a lighted viewing instrument and one or more small abdominal incisions), or laparotomy (a larger abdominal incision).
